The 1st Manila Go Skateboarding Day 2011

I love skateboarding. Pero di pa ko marunong. I'm still a noobie, and I and my board rarely goes out 'coz my school stuffs won't allow it. Pero I really find it so much fun. Who wouldn't love skateboarding?

Today is the 1st Manila Go Skateboarding Day 2011. It was originally June 21, 2011 but the weather's shitty so it was moved today. It was in fact a good thing because it's moved to a weekend so skateboarding enthusiasts won't have to cut classes. It was held in front of the Malate fountain in the Rajah Soliman Park in Liwasang Bonifacio.

Being the ever "chismosa", I went to the event. I was supposed to go with my bestfriend Neng but unfortunately she had stuffs to do so I was alone there haha! Pero ok lang coz I get to see skateboarding people. I was just there staring at skateboarders.

:)
Cool. \m/
It's so much fun watching them so bibo.
Supporters of the sport.
With the host Todd Tessier
People raising their boards up.
:)
It's so great to know that such event was held.  Some people think that skateboarding is just plain nonsense, some even think it's an annoying activity. I do believe that this sport has a lot to offer. This is a passion activity, and passion could change lives. If you can't understand these people, probably you don't live a passionate life. And I've spoken to some people who love this sport and they're too awesome. Mas masarap sila kausap compare sa mga normal na nakakasalamuha ko. :)

I didn't finish the event. I wasn't able to see it when they skated the roads of Manila.
Learn more about it here.

I promise to skate more often kahit na di ipinagaadya ng sched ko. SWEAR!

A Personal Blog Post (APBP): Reuniting with My Bestfriend after 4 years.

As usual, I was bored again.
It was father's day (no celebration 'coz paps abroad) and Rizal just turned 150.
I went to the mall, with Neng. We were just hanging out and laughing out loud.
Suddenly, my phone beeped.
The message read: "Janine. Are you free tonight? At my crib? Bring Ynna, Raia and Jeanne if you can."
                                        -Marie
From a friend who I haven't seen in years, I replied "Sure! Will be there right away"

I immediately texted Raia but unfortunately she wasn't coming because she had stuffs to do, and Jeanne is unreachable. It was just me, and Neng.

Since we were just in SM Makati, we decided to stroll down our way going to Marie's house in South Forbes Park. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. It was starting to get dark and Ynna and I, were inside the village and we got lost! We can't find Marie's house and we were running scared and were too paranoid. Ang scary naman kasi pag gabi! There were a lot of vacant lots and huge trees everywhere. We look stupid pero it's too funny everytime I remember it because we were almost crying. HAHA grabe lang.

Anyways, we were lucky because we found the house, and tantananan! We saw MARIE for the first time after 4 years!! Woohoo!!

Shy type.
Why do we look so cute together?
Grabe lang! I so missed you Marie! You just didn't know, but I was holding back my tears the entire time!
Syempre, hindi mawawala ang food trip.
 Foodtrip all the way.
Super long chat for the first time again!
We played Monopoly when we're done eating but we got bored so we stopped.
While Marie was busy inviting friends to come over, I and Ynna did a battle.
This is a serious battle because real money is at stake. XD

After a bit later, 2 friends come over and we just had a few drinks. Si Marie lasing. Wala lang I just missed her so much that I have to blog about it. HAHA!

Marie! See you soon pero promise me you will be sober the next time. Love yah!

Cashflow 101

I really wanna get wealthy. REALLY BADLY WANNA BE RICH.

Ok I sounded so evil-ish and greedy there but I have my reasons why is that.
Firstly, I wanna explore the world. I really really wanted to travel to different places! Ewan ko pero hindi ko alam kung bakit nananayo balahibo ko, naiiyak ako or nanghihina ako everytime I see different exquisite views. Plus pa ung extreme sports, dun na ko hihimatayin. And everyone knows how big of a fortune traveling would cost you.

Secondly, I wanna make my mom and paps happy. I don't want them working anymore. I just love them so much and I don't want them working hard for us. :">

Pangatlo, I wanna be financially free. Ung tipong pag nakakita ako sa mall ng something I want, i'll grab it then pay for it, whenever, wherever, whatever.

Well, I and Neng discovered a board game, it's called Cashflow and it was made by Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad Poor Dad)  We found out that there is this group of advocates who teach financial literacy for free and they teach it through the board game cash flow. (It's not entirely free because I get to pay for the registration fee and the food.) I went to one of their gaming sessions.

The place was held in Spicy Fingers Greenbelt 2.

I arrived at nearly 9am and the gaming started at around 10.

Grabe I loved the game. At first, it's a bit boring because you're still learning how the game works and mabagal pa ung flow. The goal of the game is for you to get out of the rat race. Rat race, because in real life, you get your paycheck, pay for your expenses, and you just repeat it over again. You never get out of that situation and it happens paulit ulit lang.
After the game, I had the most money and the most number of assets!! :) I got $30,000+  before the game ended while my playmates got only around $4000. Well actually, it's no tsamba. The guy beside me told me that's it's all luck, depending on what the dice roll would make you. I wanted to tell to his face that it's no luck! I just know the secrets to get rich.

What makes this so exciting for me is that, I was able to apply the things that I've learned from the books I've read and the seminars I've attended to. Like:
*If you chase for your paycheck, you'd lose money faster.
I have a playmate who always longs for the paycheck. Let's call him Robert. Every time he gets closer to the paycheck, he's always excited. Actually, it's not the thing he does itself. The attitude that you always chase for something, that's the cause of that thing going away from you. This is even applicable in different aspects in our lives, like in terms of lovelife. Diba pag chinase mo ang babae, mas pahard to get? (Pero I'm not saying don't chase us. Mas gusto namin un. :)) Lesson is, just be cool. B)

*If you don't give to charity, you will never be rich.
According to John Calub, there's no such thing as something for nothing. God would always have to get something, both effort & money. He also told us that you should always have 10% of your money for your tithing. In cashflow, when you get to the charity slot, it's your option whether you'd give 10% of your cashflow to the charity, with the benefit of taking 2 dices on your next turn (you'll get much closer to the paycheck) , or you don't give at all. Robert here again, didn't give to the charity and his attitude was like, "No way!" Before the game ended, he had the least money among us 4.

*Take risks.
People are always afraid to take risks. They would always "play safe". You really won't get anywhere if that's your mindset. There was this opportunity that the trading range is $5-$30, and today's price is $1 dollar. Knowing it's a sure win, I give $1500 of my money. Almost nothing was left for me. My playmates bought some shares too but just around a hundred to $300. Here you can see that they were too scared to take risk. I think, if they find it hard to take risks in a board game, it would make them a lot more fearful in real life, knowing real money is what's at stake. According to Robert Kiyosaki, the cause of the fear of taking risks is the lack of financial literacy. If you have knowledge to back it up, it wouldn't be seen much as a risk but instead, an opportunity. The best way to conquer this fear is to be financially educated and with that, you would learn how to manage risks.

*Open your eyes to opportunities
Some people cannot see opportunities, just because they were too focused on seeing the negatives. If you set your eyes on your goals, you will never see obstacles.  Robert again, he had passed a lot of opportunities. I can't help it so I told him, "why don't you grab that opportunity? At least your cashflow would increase plus you have built another asset." Well he just told me "You're saying that because you have a lot of money to buy for this, and I would only get $100 additional monthly which is so small." I wanted to tell him, "You are so greedy, don't you realize that you'll get another paycheck on your next turn and fyi, I got a lot of money because I see opportunities and I am not greedy!" Haha but I just told him, "if you said so". I got really carried away by the game and also he's so mayabang.

*Have a positive mindset. THE BIGGEST SECRET.
* It's not what you know, but who you know.
At the end of the game, our coaches told us that for us to be able to get out of the rat race, we should help one another. It wasn't a competition after all. You are not competing with other people but with yourself. The reason why we never got out of the rat race is because we're competing. In real life, your connections are the most important.

It was so sad because we weren't able to get out of the rat race because we lack time, but I PROMISE TO ATTEND THE NEXT GAMING SESSION.

If you wanna attend this gaming event, just email me at: nininsoriano@yahoo.com and i'll give you the details.
Let's all be financially literate and get out of the rat race. :)

Sitti: Philippine's Queen of Bossa Nova

Today, I just did my usual strolling at the mall, but this time, I brought Tati, my 3-year-old sister, with me just because I missed her. I was wandering around the vicinity of Glorietta, Greenbelt and Landmark for some window shopping, and did see sights.
In the middle of my ambling in Glorietta, I found out that Sitti Navarro was going to perform today, and God knows how much I love Sitti! I asked the nearest security guard on how will I be able to watch the show and he told me to buy her latest album in the entrance of the activity center. Upon hearing these words, without second thoughts, I immediately purchased her CD worth 290 pesos and I got the green stub - meaning, I got the chance to have the CD sign by Sitti herself. :D

I bought the CD at around 3pm and the show would start at 6. We first ate at Mcdo, roamed some more, bought my textbook Communication Theories by Stephen Littlejohn, and after we did all that, it was 4.30. I was too lazy to wander some more because there were too many people this day (probably doing some late back-to-school shopping) so Tati and I just sat there on the stairs beside the activity center and while Tati did some playing with the balloons I bought her, I took the opportunity to do some meditating.
Tati, sobrang enjoy sa pagpapalipad ng lobo.

At around 5 pm, we entered the area of the show and you won't imagine my happiness after realizing we got the best seat in town. We were on the second row, in the middle-est.
This is my view from my seat.

We waited there for an hour and at exactly 6pm, Sitti showed up. Grabe I love her! I don't know pero she looks so charming in person and her energy was different. Plus, I always loved her voice and her music. Today, she launched her album after 2 years. She said that it took them that long because they wanted to create more original songs and I could tell it was worth the wait. It was her 3rd and it was self-titled.
Sitti

Sitti also guested Jek Manuel (former lead vocalist of the band IAXE) and did a duet of the song Ako'y sayo Ika'y akin.

Sitti also guested Ebe Dancel, lead vocals of the prestigious band Sugarfree.

"THE" RJ Jacinto also showed up. For those who didn't know him, sabi nila he's ledge. I did know him through my dad, and through the RJ TV whenever I passed by the station. I don't really know him that much pero sa nakita ko, I think he's really a great artist. He was excellent in the guitars. Watch the video and he did a solo there. Superb. :) It really is best seeing different super talented musicians in one show.
I am super sorry kung very low image and sound quality yung videos ko. I left my videocam at home at pinagtyagaan ko ang digicam ko. MY BAD.

The show ended at super nafulfill ako. Meron pa ngang isang fan ni Sitti dun na sigaw ng sigaw ng MORE and he was really hilarious coz he was like so in love with Sitti.
After that, meet and greet na tas signing of the CDs.
